 Blue, an AMAZING Dog

Latest update:

Hi Betsy,

How are you enjoying this hot summer we’re having?  I thought you and the folks at Save a Dog would like an update on Mr. Blue.  We are having so much fun together!  My friends can’t say enough wonderful things about what a great dog he is!  He truly loves all the hiking we do and also running along the canal near my house chasing frogs and beavers.  I’ve attached a photo that a friend of mine took on Saturday.  Blue hiked 11.8 miles over 3 summits (Mounts Lafayette, Lincoln and Liberty).  You can see the big grin on his face!

I hope you are well,

Blue and I are having so much fun together!!  He's awesome.  Still very, very well-behaved and very gentle with my cats (wish I could say the same for my youngest cat with him).  On Sunday we spent the day walking around North Conway and then Monday we went for our first official hike at Pinkham Notch.  There was over a foot a fresh new snow!  We couldn't summit anything due to high winds so we hiked into the Hermit Lake Shelter... about five miles roundtrip and almost 2000 feet of elevation gain.  Blue had a blast!!  He makes friends everywhere he goes... human and canine!  I've attached one picture to this email and will email two others.  His personality is really starting to come out now and he's such a character.  He's really settling well into his new life here.  He's eating well and he's great when he's at the office with me, even with client's coming and going.  He's so relaxed and easygoing it's hard to believe it's only been a week.  I feel very blessed.

Glad to hear you survived the storm!

2nd Update:

I'm really enjoying Blue and my friends love him!  Yesterday we hiked Franconia Ridge!!  I thought this might be a bit ambitious for Blue but he was totally up for it!  Only 9 miles but about 4000 ft of elevation gain (3 summits!) and the wind on the ridge was significant.  Fortunately for us humans the temp was moderate (Blue doesn't mind the cold one bit!) and we had fabulous blue sky views all the way to the Northeast Kingdom in Vermont to take our minds off the high winds.  I couldn't get any pics of Blue on the ridge or summits as it was so windy I couldn't hold the camera steady!  It was amusing to watch his confusion when we encountered hikers doing the ridge from the opposite direction... his herding instinct tells him we should all be going the same way, ha, ha.  He crashed in the car for the long ride home but I'm sure he could've gone on for miles, ha.  What a great companion for me!

My friend Cindy managed to get this summit shot of Blue and I yesterday on the summit Mt. Lafayette (that's Mt. Washington in background)!
