Oreo is a 2-3 year old Shih Tzu/Lhasa mix who we thought had a grade 4 heart murmur, but he had his echogram and ultrasound. His heart murmur was downgraded from a 4 to a grade 2 and he has two small bladder stones that shouldn't give him any trouble if he's fed the proper diet (not Hills or Purina). We're looking for an adopter who will feed a fresh food diet and monitor him annually to ensure he is in a good state of health. He's adorable and a love bug who loves all people and dogs. He weighs about 20 lbs. He can be shown by private appointment.

Available On: 5/23/19

Apply To Adopt

Angie/Evangeline is a 7 month old pup who just deserves a chance. She doesn't show well at the shelter so will bark at you at first. She needs a patient adopter. She is quick to warm up to women, slow with men- so we would prefer a female only household. We hope someone will give her a chance. She has many good qualities. She's great with other dogs! She LOVES the POOL. She will lie in it like it's a hot tub. She loves to play with the big dogs and might be too rough for smaller dogs. She ignored the robotic cat. She will climb on agility equipment, even the A-frame and agility would be great for helping her build confidence. She is house trained and with a part time worker or doggy daycare she will get proper socialization and training. She is a LOVE and is ready to give her all to you if you just invest a little time and training. She would warm up faster with another dog in the family to build confidence. Please apply online at http://www.saveadog.org/applytoadopt.asp and we will be in touch about our visiting hours. .

Available On: 8/27/19

Apply To Adopt

Chunky Monkey was rescued from an animal pound in the south where dogs stay a short time before they're euthanized. Angel rescuers regularly pull from this shelter and foster the dogs until shelters up north have room. Each dog that gets adopted makes room for another. Chunky Monkey is very much a puppy. He's been around dogs, cats, 4 year olds. He's just 22 weeks, good with foster family, loves dogs, kids, used to pit bulls and large dogs. Will bark in kennel if someone else gets out before he does so he's very smart. He will be available 8/27/19.

Adoption in Progress

BREE HAS A HOME BUT WE'RE GETTING HER SISTER DENISE AND SHE IS FABULOUS TOO! Bree came to Save A Dog with her sibling, Andy who was recently adopted. They came from SC and were born on 4/15/19. Recently, Bree attended the Pet Rock adoption event and our volunteer dog handler had nothing but wonderful things to say! She LOVED walking up to all humans just to say hi to them - old, young, stroller, wheelchair, kids, men, women- nothing deterred her and she was so gentle with every single one of them! She was also phenomenal with other dogs. She would very politely go up to them and sniff until they showed interest too. She never pounced on or barked at a single one. She even went up to huge Great Danes and St. Bernards with no fear whatsoever. With so much going on at the event, she was so calm and kept her manners in check! If you are interested in meeting Bree, please fill out our online application.

Adoption in Progress

Chipmunk aka Chippy is a 2-3 year old very laid back dog who is friendly with everyone. Foster mom in Louisiana says he sleeps in living room, doesn't give anyone any trouble. He is co-existing with a lot of dogs but it would be great if he had his person who adores him. He weighs 50 lbs. He was a stray when he came in and was starved and had skin issues as a result of poor nutrition. He's all healed up now. The rescue was full so he stayed in the outdoor kennels at first, then when it was his turn to come into the house to stay, they gave fluffy bed and he was so grateful. Wow, this dog deserves a great home!! He likes to go for rides in the truck or car. Chippy is very quiet, laid back, and LOVES a big fluffy, comfy bed! He sleeps on his back on his bed in his kennel. He never had an accident in his kennel and never chewed on his bed. His gratitude for something as simple as his bed broke my heart. He’s big and at times has a “Pitbull” look so everyone turned him down. He needed a special place so I’m glad he found me and then you. Chippy has been around men, women, children, cats, dogs, and puppies. He and Bobby are buddies. Chippy would give my the 4 year old kisses. The elderly Chihuahua, Archie, would bark and go crazy every time Chippy would pass his kennel and Chippy didn’t acknowledge him. Chippy also didn’t acknowledge the cats walking around. Chippy also loves riding in the car! Available 9/4/19.
