Hi, meet Roscoe a black Lab mixed with Staffy who is two years old. He has the most amazing muzzle. He was a Louisiana stray who tested negative for heartworm and has been put on preventive. He loves to play with toys and run around in the yard. He doesn't mind cats unless they're black, for some strange reason he doesn't like black cats. He is good with other dogs and kids (recently ignored kids that came to the foster home.) Available after his neuter, so probably by 8/14. If you have vacation plans or any events preventing you from adopting right away, please do not apply yet.

Meet Sprinkles. She is around 7 years old and she has spent most of her life in a dog sanctuary down South. Now it's her turn to find a loving home. She's very sweet and even in her most frightened state would never put a tooth on anyone. We think she's mostly Lab, but possibly has a little Ridgeback because of her coloring. She is spayed. Originally she was dumped with three litter mates when she was a puppy so she has never had a home. Will you be her knight in shining armor? She gets along with both male and female dogs. She does not show any aggression food-wise or people wise. She weighs approximately 82 lbs. We ran blood work so that her adopter will not incur much in the way of medical expenses. She just needs to lose the weight she gained from all that sitting around.

Available On: 8/13/20

Apply To Adopt

Romeo is a 7 year old Jack Russell who was in foster care in Louisiana. He was a stray who nobody claimed. Foster says he loves to play with the older kids but wary of toddlers. If grands have been raised with critters that's ok but older please. He's been through so much we think he would do best as an only dog or with an older female small dog. He seems to be okay with the cats outside. He sniffs them, but otherwise has ignored them until he saw another dog barking at the cat. Then Romeo took to barking at him also. Romeo will choose to crate himself when he's tired or is overwhelmed. He has been a quiet and calm dog. He will bark or whine when he need to go out, and has only had 2 accidents since being here. Both were at night and foster says she slept through his whining to go out. Romeo doesn't need a ton of space. And while he detests the slip lead, he walks perfectly well with a typical leash/collar combo. He's not excessively noisy, nor is he terribly hyper. He loves to be a lap dog. But watch under your feet because he will make every step with you. Available approximately 8/13 as he has to get neutered first.

Bear, formerly Alpine, is actually five years old. He's a total cup cake of a dog with women and has not shown any aggression to the men he meets -- he just can't live with them.. He was abused by a man so we think anyone who reminds him of his abuser is not going to be liked. He's a very gentle soul and just likes to hang out on the sofa or explore the yard. Any single female households who want to work with him? We will help with training/behavioral work. Bear is a German Shepherd mix from Georgia and was rescued from horrific neglect and abuse. He was beaten by his owner and starved. He was treated by the rescuers for heart worm and is ready for his forever home. He's up to 66 pounds. A single adult home is preferred or all female home. He's not afraid of thunder and he seems to ignore cats. He is a very very gentle boy. He wasn't cat tested. He is Good with dogs. Rides well in a car and walks well on a leash. Just needs lots of love and to know there are good people in the world. Donations will help cover his transport and quarantine fees. Apply at http://www.saveadog.org/applytoadopt.asp

Adoption Pending

Stella is a beagle/catahoula mix who weighs 35 lb. She is super sweet and gets along great with dogs and dog-savvy cats (but will chase cats that run from her). She's house trained when kept on a schedule but doesnt typically "ask" to go out so needs to be on a schedule. She loves chewing toys, and sticks, and shoes if they are available. She's a soft-natured dog who loves attention and affection and loves to snuggle on the couch with me at night. She takes any displeasure hard - you cannot raise your voice or she cowers like she expects to be hit. She's a very good girl and she's just still learning the ropes of how to live inside after being a free roamer and having to scavenge for meals in her earlier life.

Adoption Pending

UPDATE; Cherry Pie is recovering from her mammory lump removal surgery in a foster home. Her blood work looked great and she is generally healthy and strong. She's a lovely dog, loves to be around people and is great with all animals. She is also always ready for a treat, likes to play with other dogs and enjoys walks. Cherry Pie would do best in a home with a fenced in yard. She came into a shelter in Louisiana with a previous injury to her back leg and does have a limp because of this. We are asking for donations towards her medical expenses and appreciate anything you are able contribute towards Cherry Pie's care. Despite her bad leg, sheloves going for long walks. She likes to roll in the grass and dirt. Cherry is good at jumping. She struggles with commands but is slowly learning. She understands pointing at her bed and saying “go lay down.” She can sit on command if enticed with a treat. Cherry does like sneaking into the garbage when tempted and loves laying on your bed. Cherry is respectful of dogs and cats. Cherry loves children, although sometimes she does jump so older kids are best for her. Available.

UPDATE: MOLLY'S SURGERY HAS BEEN DELAYED BECAUSE SHE NEEDS TO GROW MORE IN ORDER FOR IT TO BE SUCCESSFUL! THANKS FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT AND PLEASE KEEP HER IN YOUR PRAYERS! AFTER HER RECOVERY SHE WILL JOIN HER BROTHER IN THEIR NEW ADOPTIVE HOME. Molly is one of Mindy's pups born on 3/25/20. Molly was born with a heart defect called Patent Ductis Arteriosus where a blood vessel, the ductus arteriosus, does not close properly. Fortunately, it is correctable with a surgical procedure. If the surgery is performed before heart failure develops the success rate is very high and the prognosis for a normal life after the surgery is excellent. We would like to get Molly to a cardiologist as soon as possible and need your help to be able to afford this surgery to save this little girls life. THE SURGERY IS OVER $5000 and Covid has prevented us from holding our usual fundraisers. We are asking for donations towards her medical expenses and appreciate anything you are able contribute towards Molly’s care. PLEASE DONATE IF YOU CAN.

Adoption Pending

UPDATE: COOPER CAME BACK TO US TESTING POSITIVE ON HIS HEARTWORM TEST SO HE IS WITH ONE OF OUR VOLUNTEERS IN A FOSTER-TO-ADOPT AGREEMENT UNTIL HE TESTS NEGATIVE. DONATIONS WARMLY ACCEPTED. Cooper is an 18 month old year old Beagle boy who is very affectionate and loving, playful with other dogs and a joy to be around. He can sniff out a bunny in a heartbeat and loves to sniff around in a fenced in yard. He will come right in when you call him. He would be great with another dog to play with or with doggy friends. He needs some structure. He was adopted with a work-from-home guy and developed some anxiety when the owner tried to step out. He was not crated so became destructive. He's not a dog for an apartment or condo as he will bark if he hears people (just a bark for attention, not aggressive in the least bit). He just wants to be with his people, but that's not possible, we realize, so someone will have to work with him to introduce the crate slowly. So far he has shown no destructive behaviors at all. He keeps his bedding intact and clean. He's a beautiful little dog (25# and slim), mild in temperament, and will make a Beagle-lover so happy with his cute Beagle behaviors. He would be a star at scent work! Please have some training experience as we don't want to see him bounced around from home to home. He's a great find for the right person.

Adoption in Progress

Jack is a young 7 year old Jack Russell mix who has been well loved and cared for. He has developed anxiety around the two toddlers in the home and the family reached out to us for help. Jack would do best in an adult home with someone at home during the day. Jack loves walks and will play for hours with an active human. He is loving and will sleep on your lap and faithfully follow you around the house. Jack is a devoted dog to his adult caretakers and he is loving to the children 99% of the time. We feel a home without children would be best, but visiting children or grandchildren would be fine. In the 4 years they had Jack before children he was a great dog and they had lots of fun with him. He also lived with a 13 year old Dachshund and wss very loving to the older Dog. Please apply online if you are interested, or if you have an application with us already, please email. This wonderful little guy will get snapped up quickly. P.S. He is on an anxiety med that he would need to be weaned off of.

Adoption in Progress

Dolly, Molly, Buster, Willow, and Lou Lou are Lab/Pointer/Bully mixes who came up from Louisiana to find wonderful homes. Please be home during the day and be committed to training, which is a requirement for all our puppies. We follow a holistic protocol and ask our adopters to do the same. Available 7/28/20. She can be seen, but just not adopted yet because she had a little missing fur on one toe so the vet wants to see more fur growing back before we release her. She's a sweet pup.
