Beatrice, 1 year Female Beagle
You won't meet a more gorgeous, tri-colored beagle than Beatrice! She is 1 year old and weighs 25 pounds. She LOVES to sniff the ground when she goes on walks, so she would do great with someone who is willing to do some fun nose work with her! She also likes doing our agility course in the yard- her hoop jumping is pretty impressive! She would love to have a family that can continue doing these fun activities with her!
She is super smart and could be a working dog as she has an amazing nose and a desire to be outside sniffing. Apartment or city life would not be a good situation for her. She originally came from WV and is both house trained and crate trained. Her quirks are that she can guard her food and toys at times and she gets irritated with too much petting (much like a cat). A dog-savvy adopter will take her far, but she could be a challenge in a novice home. Please apply online if you'd like to meet Beatrice.
Beatrice was transferred to a Beagle rescue in Maine.
Six month old Claire and her brother Mark lived outside at a cemetery in a cold region. They would feed on scraps of food that people visiting the cemetery would bring with them, and hide from the rain under the dilapidated structures. Then animal control was called to terminate all the dogs in the area. A dog rescuer got a call and went straight there to pick up both dogs and their other brother. Clair and Mark are sweet and gentle, love other dogs and people. Please do not call, but fill out the application online.
Hi there! My name is George and I'm a 5 months old golden mix. I am a gentle guy and am always eager to please. I get along with kids, other dogs and most likely with cats. I think that people are pretty cool and like to play and am happy to learn new things. I also really like kids and try my best not to jump on them, but if I'm really excited sometimes I forget. If you want to come out and meet me please go to www.saveadog.org/applytoadopt.asp to fill out an online application.
Mark and Claire are brother and sister who lived outside at the local cemetery in Russia. Just pups they would feed on scraps of food that people visiting the cemetery would bring with them, and hide from the rain under the dilapidated structures. Then animal control was called to terminate all the dogs in the area. The rescue angel got a call and went straight there to pick up both dogs and their other brother. Clair and Mark are sweet and gentle, love other dogs and people. No phone calls, please. Once we receive your application we will be in touch about the next steps. They should be available around 11/1.
Potap is a 6 month old pup who was originally from Russia. Potap's was found outside, alone, with no mother or other siblings. There were mass poisonings of dogs in the area, and we assume that his family got killed. He was brought to a shelter by a young person whom Potap wouldn't stop following when she was walking home from work. She felt bad for him, and took him to a shelter. Even though the shelter was quite full, they made room for Potap. This shelter takes in dozens of puppies every week but they couldn't turn down this pup and soon Potap became a favorite, due to his huge personality. He is funny, outgoing, loves people and other dogs. No phone calls, please. Once we receive your application we will be in touch about the next steps. The earliest they will be available is 11/1. Preston may be 8 years old, but he doesn't know it! He is still a puppy at heart. The only thing that Preston likes more than playing with his little toys is YOU. Get ready to receive a big dose of love when you walk in the door, because he will be eagerly awaiting your arrival with kisses. Walks? Yes! Car rides? Bring it on! Cuddling on the couch and watching the Patriots? Go Team! This little spitfire is up for anything and everything or nothing at all.
Despite the fact that they gave him a somewhat less than warm welcome, he has been getting along fine with both the male and female dogs in his foster home, because he is just that much of a diplomat! He sleeps all night in his crate or a dog bed on the floor.
Preston will not be at our Thursday night meet & greet on Nov. 8th
Don't delay on this little gem and get ready to get some big love from this little guy.
Preston will not be at our Tuesday night meet & greet on November 6th.
Hi, I'm PRINCESS and I'm a 9 mo old hound/australian shepherd-retriever mix, weighing 42 lbs. I'm great in the house (not a counter-surfer) and I love riding in the car. I'm a super happy girl, always eager to go new places, try new things and meet new people! I have a pep in my step and I love to play play play! I'm working on learning commands so I can please my foster humans - making them happy makes me happy too! I get along great with the older dog in the home, and I even learned not to chase the cats. I love my foster home but I hear there might be a forever home out there for me. I hope they are active and love to go for long walks, and that they have another active dog that I can be best friends with too. If I sound like the perfect girl for you, please send in your application for me, Princess!
The sweetest little dog you will ever meet, Rocky came to us from a local animal control. He was unable to stay in his home and has come to our shelter to find his new home. He is a friendly, easy going guy. He would be happy keeping you company in the house or heading out for a ride in the car. He needs a dental, which the shelter will take care of, unless someone is kind enough to take care of it. If you are interested in meeting Rocky he will be at our meet & greet this Saturday from 11a - 2pm.
